You will feel connection with others and self by repeating mantras of sacred vibration.Because of its roots, many of the Chants/kirtan are sung in Sanskrit. But we also sing some original chant in English.

Chanting
Chanting is an ancient and universal practice of repeating sacred words, names, phrases and sounds to alter consciousness and raise vibration. It can be accompanied with drums, bells, clapping, and other musical instruments. Chanting is especially powerful when done within a group. It can bring about a deep sense of calmness and peace, and also create an emotional excitation which increases our body frequencies and opens the heart. This ancient form of meditation is explored as we weave our way through a variety of sound scapes. |
Kirtan
Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting performed in a
call - and - response style that originated in India. It is used to achieve happiness and to clear the heart of all distractions to ones' inner peace. You will experience a deep connection with yourself and others as you repeatedly sing mantras. Your mind will find itself in a quiet centred space when the sound is stopped as you sit in silence. "Such singing and prayer has a benign effect on both the physical and subtle bodies. It is an excellent method of soothing the nerves and directing emotions to a positive goal. Sound, made up of vibrations, is energy. A Sanskrit Mantra is a mystical energy encased is a sound structure. To release the energy from the sound, we learn to repeat it at a certain rhythm. When you start repeating a Mantra, it creates a specific thought pattern. The energy literally manifests itself." -- Swami Sivananda |
